Reduce Sitting 20 Minutes A Day Lower Blood Sugar and Cholesterol

Jakarta, For those of you who used to spend hours sitting in the office, reducing sitting time at least 20 minutes can have a major impact on health. This suggestion was presented by Finnish scientists who recently revealed the results of a study of the impact of sitting habits on metabolism and muscle mass of the body. The study was conducted by analyzing 133 office workers who had small children. Study participants were counseled on how to reduce the time they spent sitting, and increased activity during their working time and leisure time. Their activity level was assessed through devices mounted on the waist for seven days of the week, up to five times during the study period. They are asked to reduce their sitting time in the office, and to be active in the same time as when accompanying their children on the move. Analysis results showed that reducing sitting time by 21 minutes daily lowered blood sugar levels, as well as cholesterol levels, associated with heart disease. Even just reducing the 20 minute walk time to walk makes the leg muscles more crowded. The study's lead author, Dr Arto Pesola from the University of Jyvaskyla in Finland, says that their study shows that reducing sitting time in this busy phase of life is strongly advised. These busy parents may initially think that spending time with their children is far from the physical exercise they need. However, by playing with the children, they can reduce the sitting time and become a good example for children, Pesola said, concluded.
